Polycarbonate Backboard Supplier from China
The polycarbonate (PC) backboard is a transparent or semi-transparent basketball court backboard. It is made of high-performance thermoplastic engineering plastic that often offers you superior durability and proper flexibility.
Zoycen has over 15 years of experience in customizing polycarbonate backboards for global customers. Our manufacturing facilities are ISO 9001 certified, ensuring consistent, high-quality production for every backboard. To satisfy your specific needs, we offer the service of customizing the thickness, size, edge treatment, drilling, and OEM brand logo for your polycarbonate sheets.
Send us your specifications or drawings, and we’ll provide a fast quotation for you!

Has a rectangular shape, which can provide more dribbling and shooting aiming areas at the four corners, suitable for formal skill practice.

Has curved or fan-shaped ends, with a small size, light weight, and less wind resistance. Often applied in small outdoor playgrounds or children’s entertainment areas.

Apply your brand logo, cool geometric lines, and personalized patterns to the back of the backboard to make your basketball stand more dynamic.
High Safety and Durability Features
Polycarbonate is the most durable of all transparent basketball court materials. Zoycen polycarbonate basket backboards can withstand severe vandalism, rock impacts, and aggressive play without cracking.
Unlike tempered glass backboards, our polycarbonate backboards do not produce sharp glass shards even when they break. Consequently, player injury risks are virtually eliminated. Furthermore, the polycarbonate we employ has excellent fire resistance (reaching B1 level) and has self-extinguishing characteristics, making them highly effective at mitigating arson and fire-related vandalism.

Energy-Absorbing Impact Tolerance & Rebound Management
One of the Zoycen polycarbonate backboard advantages is that it has slight flexibility. This provides a forgiving rebounding force. Specifically, when the basketball hits our backboard, it will absorb some of the energy, causing the ball to rebound at a shorter distance. This delivers a more predictable rebound, making it ideal for controlled training environments.
To deal with the issue of weak rebound force, Zoycen polycarbonate backboards can employ metal frames (you can choose from steel or aluminum) for edge protection and back support. That enhances the overall rigidity and improves the effect of ball rebound.
Why Do Global Buyers Choose Zoycen Polycarbonate Backboards?

Zoycen has complete and advanced facilities for manufacturing and supplying wholesale basketball backboards for you. We have a 5,000-square-meter factory and advanced extrusion production lines. This stable production capacity enables us to meet the demands from small-batch custom orders to large-scale OEM projects.
We always employ virgin materials and UV-stabilized coatings to ensure superior impact strength, UV resistance, weatherability, and transparency of your polycarbonate basketball backboards. Whether you want to develop a new basketball system or expand an existing product line, we can tailor your own polycarbonate backboard solutions.

Zoycen Polycarbonate Backboards Applications

Zoycen polycarbonate backboards are most widely applied for residential portable basketball hoops. If you use mobile polycarbonate backboard basketball hoops with sand-filled bases, the backboard does not break even if the hoop falls onto the ground.
You can also install them above your garage door frame. They have little pressure on the load-bearing structure and have no risk of cracking or falling.

Zoycen polycarbonate backboards are ideal for public applications due to their nice anti-destructive property. For example, if you place an 8mm or thicker Zoycen polycarbonate backboard in a public court, you do not need to worry about ball impacts or bad weather.
They also need less maintenance and can reduce your replacement costs.

Zoycen polycarbonate backboards are very suitable for youth training, because they are safer, have less rebound force, and are softer. They can prevent glass from shattering and causing injuries and improve children’s sports tolerance.
The lifespan of Zoycen polycarbonate backboard depends on many factors. Usually, a polycarbonate basketball backboard can be used for 3 to 5 years outdoors, and 10 to 20+ years indoors. The UV-resistant coatings, climate, and scratches can all influence the lifespan.
To ensure a proper service life, Zoycen provides a 5-year warranty on our polycarbonate backboards for you.
| Acrylic Backboard | Polycarbonate Backboard | |
| Impact Resistance | Medium | Virtually Shatterproof |
| UV Resistance | Excellent Not turn yellow | Good with UV coating (to prevent yellowing, fogginess, and brittleness) |
| Optics | Excellent | Medium Prone to causing tiny scratches and will become dull |
| Rebound Performance | Better | Medium |
| Safety | Medium | Excellent |
| Price Range | Higher | More Economic |
Compared to acrylic backboards, polycarbonate backboards cannot ensure a long-term good appearance but are more cost-effective and definitely safer. So, if you care more about safety, polycarbonate backboards are better.
Polyethylene (PE) has a large difference from polycarbonate. PE is a completely opaque, solid-colored plastic backboard. You can get more details from the following chart:
| Polyethylene Backboard | Polycarbonate Backboard | |
| Appearance | Opaque Usually solid hard plastic in pure white or black or with colored patterns | High transparency |
| Impact Resistance | Virtually Indestructible | Shatterproof, but a little more brittle |
| UV Resistance | Excellent Not turn yellow | Good with UV coating |
| Rebound Performance | The lowest | Medium |
| Price | Low | Medium |
| Aesthetics | Lower | Higher |
If you don’t care about the appearance, then the PE backboard is a durable and more cost-effective choice. However, if you want a more attractive basketball backboard with a better rebounding effect, the PC backboard is no doubt better.
| Polycarbonate Backboard | Tempered Glass Backboard | |
| Rebound Quality | Lower | Excellent |
| Impact Resistance | Shatterproof | Have a risk of fragmentation |
| Safety | Excellent | High (for shatterproof glass ), but lower than PC |
| Scratch Resistance | Lower | Higher |
| UV Resistance | Good with UV coating | Excellent Not turn yellow |
| Weight | More Lightweight | Very Heavy |
| Price Range | Lower | Higher |
In comparison, the advantage of PC backboards lies in their high durability and safety, while the tempered glass backboard can bring you a better and more formal ball rebound effect. If you are a serious basketball enthusiast, you can choose tempered glass backboards. However, if you pay more attention to the safety and durability (for instance, you want basketball backboards for beginners or children), then PC backboards are suitable for you.
If you have difficulties in choosing among these materials, contact us and tell us your requirements, and our professional team will give you the most suitable solution.
- If your basketball hoop is adjustable, you need to lower it to its minimum height (typically 7.5 feet). If the base is portable, ensure it is secured by being filled with water or sand.
- Remove the rim. You need to hold the rim steady from below to prevent it from falling.
- Remove the polycarbonate backboard support.
- Assemble the new backboard.
- Hang the new backboard and tighten each screw.
- Reattach the rim and lock nuts.
- Raise the basketball hoop back to the height you need.
- Inspect finally by shaking the backboard and the basket ring, and you can make several shots to test the new backboard’s rebound effect.
Zoycen will give you detailed instructions and guidelines to help with replacement.
To protect polycarbonate backboards from scratching when transporting, Zoycen offers package customizing services, including PE protective film, EPE foam, bubble wrap cushioning, die-cut EPS, cardboard inserts, double-wall export cartons, palletization, and container bracing.
